It's taken me awhile, but I think spring is my favorite season. When the weather is bi-polar, it's "little engine that could"ing. You know it's going to -stay- nice at some point, but it's worth it to root for spring because each day brings you closer to summer. Spring is anticipation, and giddiness for days without school, lots of sunshine, and watermelons. (Also my birthday, but that part's not important...heheh) Lately I've been off neglecting my blog dealing with some real-life restructuring. Figuring out what my "next step" is has been a frightfully exhausting experience. Fortunately, there's always a reason to be thankful.
Last year, I made a spring mix for tumblr. This year, I made another.
Lately I've had some tunes on repeat to help me through this sleepy springtime. Notably a fellow named Long Arm who's been consistently blowing my mind. Instead of sampling old soul music like most of his contemporaries, he's gone through and gutted some of my favorite jazz tracks. The results are pure gold. I love listening to his music and being able to pick out samples with ease. He mixes them so creatively!
I've spent so much time holed up in coffee shops listening to him, hunched over my new sketchbook (mixed media paper was a brilliant investment) trying to figure out what I wanted out of life; and why I was so flippin' broke.

I'm still planning on writing a "how to beat the blues" post, but for now, I'm just excited to share my musical gratitude from the last month or so. (Because HELLO: I've been totally slacking on mix mondays, right?)
