Weekend writing prompt: 10/19
The other day I couldn't sleep so I made a post on my livejournal. (I know, I know... I'm a grandma. My LJ turned 10 this year!) It wasn't really a post in words, it was more of a visual list. Lately I've been dreaming about scenes from a movie I'd like to write. Not one movie per say, but a collection of scenes that don't really belong with each other from a bunch of different things and I can't keep my brain straight. This is how going to bed has been for me the last few weeks. I've been thinking about what I would want to say visually.
So, here's your task for the weekend. The prompt is called:
My ideal movie.
How would your ideal movie be represented? There's no "right" way to do this exercise. At the end of this post, I'll attach some images that made it into my original LJ brain-dump, but you can do anything that tickles your fancy.
If image compilation doesn't really do it for you, try some of the following:
- Make a list.
- What would it be about?
- Who would you cast?
- What are some of your favorite movies, and what about them would you like to include in your ideal movie?
- Make a playlist.
- What would your ideal movie sound like?
- Write a few scenes. (Remember: They don't -have- to be in screenplay format.)
This exercise doesn't have to be a completed masterwork of cinema by the time you're done with it. Just get your gears in motion thinking about what elements would make up the perfect movie in your brain.
Happy writing, and happy weekend~!
